Workout of the Day

3 Rounds for time of:
10ea Arm KB Swings
10ea Supine Ring Row w/1 Leg Out

Session Notes
You’re going to notice a bit of a trend in the workouts this week, what it is we will not say. All you need to know is that our goal is to work on asymmetry, both by making you aware of it and forcing you to deal with it on a recurring basis.

Asymmetry is an enemy of athletic capacity and all good athletes seek to create and maintain equal mobility on both sides of the hips, shoulders and limbs. Think about the way you are sitting right now, and how you always sit, do you cross your right leg over your left, do you always put your wallet in your right pocket, how about the hand that you turn backwards on deadlifts, all of these repeated motions can create an imbalance in both strength and flexibility. Be more mindful of this and adjust habits in the future.

If you’d like to read an interesting study about this subject, here’s a pretty long research paper: BILATERAL ASYMMETRIES IN FLEXIBILITY, STABILITY, POWER, STRENGTH, AND MUSCLE ENDURANCE ASSOCIATED WITH PREFERRED AND NONPREFERRED LEG

Pink Bra Tour
The Barbells for Boobs team have been throwing Amazing Grace events for 3 years now. Last year they embarked in a cross country tour, stopping at CrossFit gyms all over the map to promote their message of breast cancer awareness. This year CrossFit Costa Mesa is honored to be picked as the official tour stop in Orange County. We’re kicking the tour off at our gym and we need your support!
