Some days the inner demons are louder than usual, CrossFit can help you tell them to STFU.
Workout of the Day
5 Rounds for time:
5 Muscle-ups
400m Run
Session Notes – Dialogue
The inner dialogue you have during a workout has taken you a lifetime to develop; it’s yours to deal with for better or worse, and it is the kind of thing that deserves your attention if you’re seeking improvement in your life. But you mustn’t dwell on it, there’s no need for a couch session with a psychiatrist to fix these inner demons, no amount of discussion will fix this issue.
CrossFit done right is empowering. The things we focus on have an obvious and measurable learning curve, and as you climb that gradual slope the confidence gleaned from an improved lift, or a faster run, or overcoming the rings for the first time should add a positive flavor to that inner monologue. Add to it the good vibes that come from your clothes fitting a bit less snuggly, and a better looking nekkid self and you have a recipe for telling those inner demons to STFU.
So focus on your lifts, think about what it’s going to take to shave some time off of your next Fran. Spend that effort getting better physically and the mental side will work its ass off to keep up with those improvements.
Promise.

The Firebreather boards have been relocated above the main white boards. We hope that the scores up here inspire you to work hard each day to improve. If you’ve read this far, I’ll let you in on a little secret: we’re tackling one of these workouts on Thursday, “Helen” are you ready?

Session Notes
I have had this same discussion with different people more times than I wish to calculate: some uninformed jerk says, “CrossFit is dangerous, [insert poorly researched CrossFit rumor here]“, me “Lots of things are dangerous, hell driving to work could get you killed. ‘Safe’ fitness gets you no where, so if you want real results you have to risk a little.”
There have been no significant injuries in our gym in the four years we’ve been in business, ever (save one achilles injury).
Ya wanna know why people get injured doing CrossFit? Hubris. Let that ego you’ve been stroking your whole life get in the way of the learning process and you’ll lead yourself to injury, guaranteed. Those who succeed in our program, those who repeatedly brag to friends about being “in the best shape of their life” are those who are willing to re-learn the basics, then learn them again, and again.
If you’re one of those people who are willing to learn, if you’re the kind of person who wants to improve at the cost of immediate gratification, CrossFit is your program.
