WOD:

5 Rounds – For Time

Thrusters – 21x (89# men / 45# women)
Burpees – 21x

Notes:  Hey everyone!  I have not been keeping up to date on the posts, sorry, my excuse: I have been traveling the last few days.  I’m back now and should be back to these 500 word essays!

This WOD is from the mainsite a few days back.  It took most people about 20 min or so, not sure what that means since we’ve never done it before but I do know that Thrusters hit hard, especially  at 90# and Burpees always suck, so the two together seemed like a match made in heaven.

The amount of work requred on these movements is almost as high as it can get.  The thruster is moving a load almost as far as the human body will allow, the only thing greater is if the bar touched the ground.  That means it takes a lot of work to do this workout.  The Burpees require you to move a significant distance too.  The center of mass goes from ground to jumping!  All this will work to increase your work capacity!

Some clarification about the food log, the 40 day challenge.  We decided that there needed to be some more clarity on the rules and so here are the changes:
1. The cutoff time is 12 midnight the following day.
2. The food and drink must be for the entire day, if there are obvious holes, you owe the penalty.
3. Penalty is now 50 burpees.

Our reasoning is simple, the cost was actually becoming a deterrent for some to even come to the gym and I think it’s better to come in and work hard than to not come at all.  Second, the other two needed to be more clear, there was inconsistency.

Alec and I paid our debts (full 10k rows each) and going forward the new rules are in effect.

Question/comment:  ”I can’t afford to eat Paleo it’s way to expensive for me right now”

Response: It is expensive.  Trader Joes is pretty good about prices, but here is the deal.  Start at the beginning.  The first and primary goal is to 1. reduce refined carbs and 2. eat 5 small meals that include protein, good carbs, and good fat at every single meal.  Start there, buy bulk chicken, veggies and nuts and start at the beginning.  After that is consistent then we can start adding more specificity to quantity and quality of the fuel.

I hope everyone is doing well and I will see you all soon.

Including the warm-up, we only did about 200 push-ups total… no big deal. :-)
